    Benefits:

    Protects the Liver

Artichoke leaves are rich in vitamins, iron, artichokes, flavonoids, and many other components that are beneficial to the human body. Artichoke extract has bile, liver protection, cholesterol-lowering, and diuretic effects, and can be used to treat cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, choledocholithiasis, partial bile duct obstruction, acute and chronic hepatitis, hypercholesterolemia, hepaticogenic edema. Artichoke leaf extract contains artichinin (also known as thistle) has the effect of treating chronic hepatitis and lowering cholesterol, and is also very effective in detoxification, it can also protect the liver from normal and unavoidable toxins by promoting the flow of bile and protecting liver cells.

    Cholesterol-Lowering

Artichoke extract can regulate lipid metabolism in humans by lowering cholesterol and endogenous triglycerides in the body. Bile is the main pathway for cholesterol elimination, and artichoke extract has been shown to lower cholesterol levels in the human liver and serum by promoting bile secretion. Studies showing that artichoke extract can act directly on endogenous cholesterol synthesis.

    Antioxidant

Artichoke leaf extract can be antioxidant and protective properties against oxidative stress of hydrogen peroxide and low density lipoprotein (LDL) reduction in mouse liver. The antioxidant capacity of each polyphenolic compound isolated from artichoke extracts was evaluated by utilizing their scavenging effects on DPPH free radicals. It was found that the antioxidant capacity of the polyphenolic compounds was mainly determined by the number of hydroxyl groups on the fenugreek ring, and the higher the number of hydroxyl groups, the higher the antioxidant capacity. In addition, the second hydroxyl group located in the neighboring and opposite positions could also increase their antioxidant capacity.

    Regulation of Endothelial Cell Function

Endothelial cell dysfunction is an early stage of atherosclerosis and is often determined by ultrasound measurements of flow-mediated vasodilation (FMV), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), and humoral markers such as E-selectin.

Foreign researchers observed the effect of artichoke juice food additives on arm FMV of patients with hyperlipidemia, measured the basal level of soluble VCAM-1, ICAM-1, E-endothelial cell selectin in serum and arm FMV, and found that patients' triglyceride level increased after taking artichoke, and total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol were decreased.

The total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol of the control group were significantly reduced, and the VCAM-1, ICAM-1 and arm FMV of the treatment group were reduced compared with those of the pre-medication group, while there was no change in the control group before and after the administration of artichoke food additives. It can be seen that artichoke food additives can indeed regulate endothelial function in patients with excessive blood cholesterol.

    Improves Digestion

Artichoke leaf extract is rich in phenolic acids (e.g. artichokes, 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, chlorogenic acid, 1,3-dicaffeoylquinic acid, etc.), which, in addition to its hepatoprotective and hepatoprotective properties, is also very effective in assisting in the treatment of indigestion.

    Applications:

    For Health Products:

The European Pharmacopoeia has allowed artichoke to be used for liver protection and indigestion; the African Pharmacopoeia indicates that artichoke can be used to treat liver dysfunction. In Europe and the United States, artichoke extract has been widely used in a variety of dietary supplement products, mainly for liver health and digestive health. Some of the common artichoke extract products available in the market are liver protection tablets, liver protection drinks, digestion promotion tablets, stomach powder and other products.
